Diets don’t work. Their very principle involves telling you what you
can’t have and what you can’t do. If someone locked you in a room,
your natural instinct would be to get out of there, right? Diets are
like that – they give you the feeling of being locked into something.
You spend the entire time working within a structure that is only
comfortable for a short period of time – and after a while, you can’t
wait to break free from it.
So then if diets don’t work, what does? Changing this diet mindset
involves changing your definition of what being healthy is. It’s about
leaving behind the idea that losing weight by any means is the sole way
to find health. Rather, it’s about embracing the idea that true
health and wellness comes when you find your own balance with food,
physical activity and emotional well-being. It’s about finding out
what works for you and you alone. When this is realized, weight loss
is a mere (and probable) side benefit.
Finding this balance takes time and energy, two luxuries most of us are
sorely lacking these days. But there’s no escaping it. It took a
lifetime to get to where you are today, and it’s going to take some
time to get to where you want to go. Along with the successes will be
setbacks, which is just a natural part of the process of change. If
you become discouraged, start over fresh the next meal or the next day,
always keeping your focus on how you want to live and how you want to
feel.
Breaking free of the diet mindset will set you free from the cycle in
which diets keep you, and lead you to a more balanced attitude towards
health that has the potential to last a lifetime. Working the leViv
program will steer you towards achieving this balance.
